Three words: evidence-based teletherapy
Therapy on your terms
Children and teenagers are extremely busy with school, homework, sports, and extracurriculars. That’s why I treat your child’s mental health concerns in the convenience of your own home via a HIPAA-compliant video chat app. I will help your child achieve the best outcome with the most time left for you to enjoy one another.
As much (or little) help
as you need
Instead of only being able to have a one-hour session once a week, clients can see me for multiple weekly sessions. This flexible and personal way of receiving therapy is even more effective because clients can get the help they need when they need it. As things improve, we can always meet less frequently to check in.
Therapy built for today’s world
I designed my approach to be virtual first. That means professional lighting, crystal clear audio, and easy scheduling combined with extended hours (up to midnight).
A modern take on ancient wisdom
Two thousand years ago, Greek philosophers laid down the ideal of stoicism: identifying what is in our control and avoiding stressing about what’s not. My therapeutic approach is based on this tradition but tailored to the needs of today’s children and adolescents.
Trust the science
Researched and proven to be effective, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) has been shown to alleviate symptoms of anxiety depression, and other issues. CBT gives kids a set of skills to start recognizing and changing their thought patterns, shifting their behavior in a positive direction, and building a healthy self-concept. Don’t worry, the evidence also shows that CBT over video calls is just as effective as in person.
Concerns I help with
Anxiety
People experiencing anxiety may feel nervous, restless, or on edge. These feelings may be accompanied by physical symptoms like fast heartbeats, trouble sleeping, muscle tension, headaches, trouble concentrating, fatigue, and irritability which can severely impact school performance. With CBT-based interventions and techniques I can help your child manage their anxiety and start to feel better.
Depression
Depression is a common mental illness that can cause people to feel hopeless, helpless, worthless, or guilty. It may make them feel sad, anxious, irritable, or restless. Depression can also interfere with eating and sleeping. Adolescents with depression are at greater risk of suicide, so early intervention is critical.
Low self-esteem
Low self-esteem is a serious problem. It affects children and teenagers when they feel worthless, inadequate, or when they see themselves as failures. The rise of social media has made the problem even worse, especially among girls. Low self-esteem can have negative long term impacts, so don’t wait to reach out for help.
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
Some children and teens have a very hard time concentrating. They have trouble sitting still, behave impulsively and struggle to control their impulses. In many cases, the problem is due to ADHD. Efficiently managing ADHD is necessary for the success and well-being of any child or teen, both in school and beyond.
Sleep issues
From trouble falling asleep and frequent nightmares to trouble staying asleep and excessive daytime sleepiness, common sleep issues in children and teenagers can have a profound impact on the child's well-being. Find out more about how my innovative approach to sleep issues therapy helps children and teenagers get a good night’s sleep and a stress-free start to each new day.
College transition
Transitioning to college can be a challenging process for many young adults, especially if they are moving away from home for the first time. Not knowing what’s next after high school can be a scary time for everyone involved. Starting junior year of high school, I work with clients to make sure they are thinking about their plans and designing strategies to execute them.
